How to Mascara: Keep rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin'

Doesn't the title take you back to 2000?  This used to be our jam in high school!

What were you told when you first learned how to apply mascara?  Press at the base and gently wriggle the brush as you moved upwards right?

Well, forget that because you should be rolling that wand!  I accidentally tried this out when applying my Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express mascara to take photos for my latest mascara review (post here) and I've got to tell you, I got Va Va Voom lashes with minimal effort using an everyday drugstore mascara!

When you think about it, it actually makes sense.  Moving the same side of the brush against your lashes as you go up will just result in less mascara being transferred and you end up with a dry as a bone mascara wand by the time you reach the tips of your lashes.

I'm quite partial to that thick clumpy lash look, the more mascara I can get onto my lashes, the better.  Now, what would happen if you were to slightly roll the brush upwards as you swiped?  Your lashes would be exposed to more and more of the loaded part of the brush thus resulting in more mascara on your lashes.

It does take practice and I struggled a little with my left eye, however the results were pretty amazing.  Though you might say that the difference is subtle, it is a difference all the same and I've managed to get dark and voluminous lashes with fewer coats and lesser time.  Win win!

Try it out and keep rollin' rollin' rollin that mascara wand!
