Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express Mascara

Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express Mascara

I used to use the Maybelline Colossal mascara all the time back in the day.  I'd even stock up and it was not uncommon to have a few back up tubes rolling around in my dresser drawers.  My obsession with finding the next best mascara however made me forget just how good this was as I started jumping from brand to brand.  It was only during a recent tidy up that I found two brand new tubes of mascara (and still within their shelf life period mind you) and thanked the makeup Gods.

Which reminds me.  Here's an awesome website to check the shelf life of your makeup (link here).  Just enter the batch code printed on the product and you're good to go.

The brush of the Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express Mascara

Maybelline is one of the more affordable drugstore brands (you know how everything is inflated in Kuwait) and a tube will just set you back around 4-5 KD.  I can live with that!

As a rule, I never buy waterproof versions.  Despite not being waterproof, this lasts all day and does not flake or smudge on me.  The formula is lightweight and you're left with soft fluttery lashes.  The mascara holds a curl well and leaves you with decent length and volume without any clumping.  What more do you need in a mascara?

The wand also has fiber bristles.  Am I the only one who detests prickly plastic bristle wands?

Cons?  This mascara doesn't layer well and so I'd advise to pile on the layers while the mascara is still wet.  Also, due to the large brush, coating your lower lashes can be a little tricky.  I do however love a good large and dense brush ... bigger is always better when it comes to voluminous lashes as large brushes pick up more product.

Though this mascara doesn't exactly qualify for HG status, it is pretty close.  For its price, this is an excellent everyday mascara that I hope to always have in my collection.

What are your budget everyday mascara recommendations?  Would love to hear from you!
