Luchador - Authentic Mexican at Barba

Barba, Shuwaikh, Kuwait

Barba (@lets.barba) is holding a Mexican Food fest for two nights only.  Today is the last day and I wanted to get this out in case this is something you'd be interested in.  And why not?  I mean after all, its Mexican food!  The food is by Azteca by the way so if you miss out on this, you can still pass by their restaurant at The Village (take the 208 Abu Hasaniya exit on 30).  I'd had tried Azteca a few years ago and though I don't remember all the dishes I ordered, I do remember the shrimp ceviche which was just morish.

The  special Mexican menu at Barba has been curated to include just a few favourites, which is actually a good thing, you don't get overwhelmed with choices.  We had a lovely Spanish national come up to us and explain the menu to is which was awesome.  Each dish is a little more expensive (.500 KD to be exact) than Azteca's usual prices, but you're paying for the atmosphere - it does not feel like Kuwait at all!  I loved the young energetic vibe - no girls wearing their entire makeup collection here, if you know what I mean.  Everyone just seemed cheerful, casual and content.

So, we ordered the Tacos al Pastor (top right) and the Enchiladas verdes (bottom left) and a Chelada to wash it all down.  A Chelada is basically beer (non-alcoholic, we're in a dry country peoples!) mixed with lime juice.  Reminded me of a Spanish Clara which is so refreshing on a hot summer day.  And to finish the meal, the Tres leches con cajeta (bottom right), which is a three milk cake.  Oh yum, it is heavy but such a blissful end to the meal.

There's a small area upstairs for you to try your hand at air hockey, foosball, darts and an arcade machine too!  Oh I heard that the pizzas on Barba's usual menu are great too if you miss out on passing by today.  So...let's Barba!
