Netball in Kuwait!

I'm sure a lot of people don't know this, but there is a Netball Club in Kuwait!  Its a fun group of both men and women and they welcome all abilities, whether you're a seasoned pro, played on a team back in the 'ol school days or even if you're a newbie and are just learning the game.  I played a season last year and really enjoyed myself, but had to quit after I injured my finger and had to take up a low-impact sport instead.  (The injury was completely unrelated to Netball by the way.  I was entertaining my daughter and pretending to be Superman.  Ha!)  They have a group on facebook called Kuwait Netball (here) which you can contact for more information.  I'll also paste the lastest post from the group below:  

Afternoon Ladies and Gents,

Here we go then, the much anticipated Netball information for the forthcoming season:

Our main aim this year is to take 2 or more teams of all ages and abilities to the Intergulf Netball tournament in March.  As such, training on a Tuesday evening will return to its former social self where old and new members can enjoy the sport in a friendly environment.  Training will consist of some drills in order to enhance/develop your skill set, followed by as much game time as we can squeeze in.  So please, drag a friend along and join our club!  We are also opening up a mentoring programme, whereby you can learn to umpire Netball matches and perhaps take on a coaching role in the future.  

First session:

Tuesday 6th September, 17:30-19:30 at The English School, Salmiya (some taxi drivers know it as the old Salmiya fire station- it is on google maps).

This session will be FREE to all attendees.  The purpose of it is for you to trial if you want to commit and attend on a weekly basis.  It will give you a chance to meet your committee and ask any questions about the club.  The session will involve some brief presentations to inform you of happenings (both social and sport related) and then game time.  More information regarding training formats will be spoken of during the trial session.

Training dates after this are as follows (same time and location):

Tuesday 20/09, 27/09, 04/10, 11/10, 18/10, 25/10, 08/11, 15/11, 22/11, 29/11 and our Christmas tournament will be held on 06/12.

Season 2, which will commence after the Christmas holidays, will also comprise of 10 sessions (final dates to be confirmed).

Costs:

40KD per season which includes a Kuwait Netball t-shirt (you will receive this during the first official session on 20/09).  OR, you can pay 65KD for the year if you know you will 100% play for the whole year.

Socials:
We have made social events a focus this year and as such, have planned a variety of socials for ALL members, including boat parties, Trivia nights, fancy dress tournaments and a few surprises in store.  Details to follow on this.  

Finally, if all of this doesn't sound like a club you want to be part of (you're bonkers!), we have also been invited to play at the Dubai rugby 7's this year in the Netball Women's Gulf tournament.  Not only will we be participating in the event, we would like to organise a club social to attend the weekend festivities.  So dates for your diary: Thursday 1st - Saturday 3rd December.  More information to follow.
