Fireworks at the Opening of the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre

Did you catch the fireworks display during the opening of the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre on Saturday?  (What a mouthful!)

My girls had been pestering us to go out on Diwali to have a look at all the lights and fireworks, but the patrolling police cars put us off that idea and we decided to stay inside instead.  If it is illegal to set off fireworks (I understand the safety concern), why on earth are they sold!?  Or is celebrating Diwali just illegal?

Anyway, the opening of the cultural centre came up at a good time so the girls were able to catch this show instead.  And it was on Guy Fawke's Day, what a coincidence!  Guy Fawke's Day is a big deal back in NZ and it sure brought back a lot of childhood memories.

We made sure to reach well before the show was to start and had planned on parking in the NECK church grounds.  Unfortunately the rest of Kuwait also had the same idea and the parking lot had been closed off by a policeman.  Not to worry, a quick drive around the cultural centre found us an amazing spot right behind it.  The view was amazing and we were able to watch the show from the bonnet of our car.  Is there really any other way to do it!?

Below are just some quick shots taken on my mobile and don't truly reflect the beauty we witnessed that night.  On a side note, how awesome is the weather we're having at the moment?  Can't wait for our two weeks of winter and of course Christmas!

I hope this is only the beginning of many more amazing projects to come up in Kuwait's near future.

UPDATE:
248am just posted the below video which recaps the fireworks display beautifully.
