The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream

A Review on The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream

The number of posts I have on products from The Body Shop is evidence enough that I am their biggest fan.  And why not?  The Body Shop is an affordable brand that supports fair trade, does not test on animals and has a host of products that not only smell great but really deliver too.  So it was a huge shock to me when I didn't fare so well with this little eye cream.

Truth be told, I've never religiously used an eye cream.  Now that I'm in my 30's I thought it was high time to start (admittedly a little late) including one in my daily skincare routine and picked this one up from The Body Shop's Vitamin E range.  Vitamin E is a highly beneficial ingredient for the skin!  It boosts collagen production, supports new skin cell growth, lightens and smoothens rough skin, etc.  The benefits are endless!  The Body Shop however doesn't reveal just how much Vitamin E is contained within the product though.

The Vitamin Eye Eye Cream promises to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, puffiness and dark circles.  This tiny tube houses just 15ml of product, but a little goes a long way and after having used this for the past 3 months, I'm only half way through the tube.  There's a nice slip to the cream and it applies smoothly and absorbs quickly.  It also has a non-greasy finish providing a nice base for makeup.

But that's where the plus points end.  I want an eye cream to moisturize and hydrate the heck out of that delicate eye area, however this is just too light and its moisturizing properties disappear almost instantaneously.  Though I'm not expecting a miracle, this has done nothing for my fine lines.  I don't have dark circles or puffiness so I cannot attest to this unfortunately (or should I say fortunately?).  The cream has a strong plastic like scent to it which can be a little off putting.  Also, despite the packaging stating that the cream is good for 6 months from the date of opening, just 3 months into using it, the eye cream has already separated!  On googling, I found this does happen in warmer climates, but I seriously doubt Kuwait's scorching temperatures have had a chance to affect my eye cream as we live in constant air-conditioning.

Would I recommend this?  If you're in your late teens to early 20s with no skin concerns and are looking for something light, then this would would be a great eye cream to start with.  And for the rest of us?  Though the other products in The Body Shop's Vitamin E range are really great, I would give this particular eye cream a miss.

  1. Love this review! I've tried this product before because I seriously need some eye cream to keep my underlies looking healthy but this one was just... meh for me. And it's such a shame because I had high expectations for this as well since I'm a fan of their vitamin e line.

    1. Oh wow, really? I once had a horrible reaction to the Olay Total Effects cream and since then stopped buying anything from the grocery store. Should try this though. Thank you for the recommendation!
